Academics

We believe that our curriculum is more effective when taught in-person, and prefer to run all our classes in the traditional in-person format where teamwork and collaboration is emphasized. That said, we also realize that learners may not be able to come to us physically, and so we may offer a separate online program in the future – please contact us if there is interest!

Coding can be challenging, and we all need occasional help! You can contact our faculty anytime with any questions, and we also invite you to join our weekly office hour to discuss your questions with a trainer and other learners.

We do! Some of our classes are sponsored by community organizations and run in community centers, free of charge, to help teenagers, young professionals and adults establish and advance their technology careers.

Teaching is done in small to medium groups (usually up to 12 students in each session) so we can give the personal attention to every learner and help with the exercises.

Many of our learners are excited to take on more challenges outside the classroom. We are happy to provide additional deeper learning materials and exercises to any student wishing to go the extra mile between classes. Students are welcome to use our office hour to get their questions answered, or bring these questions to the next class.

Today’s kids are growing in a technology world and can start their coding journey at young age. Our earliest programs are designed for middle-schoolers and focus on building early skills and a solid foundation for more advanced future learning.

If you are passionate about the course domain, serious about taking your career further, and ready to put some effort into it, then very likely yes!

In general, for all our courses, you will get full instant access to the entire course content at the beginning of the first session.

Homework is not given officially, but we do encourage all our students to try out the class exercises again after class to make sure they fully understand the concepts, and to review the enrichment materials provided by the instructor at the end of a session.

Since the courses consist of just a handful of sessions, we encourage all our students to try attending all meetings. We do however realize that life is unpredictable, and the trainer will be happy to help catch you up on a session you’ve missed, either by scheduling a short make up session or inviting you to join the office hour.

Our trainers are seasoned professionals with relevant experience in relevant technology domains and a proven ability to run successful courses for learners in all levels. We hire our trainers carefully, knowing that a good trainer can make all the difference and that our classes are only as good as the trainer delivering them.

We do! Private tuition is a paid service we offer outside our classes, and it can cover any technology or programming subject we offer in our official classes. Please contact us directly for more details.

Logistics

Yes! We have a weekly office hour offered online where all learners are welcome to join and ask questions about any course and any technology and programming topic.

No need to. We will go through the necessary software installations during class. You are welcome however to pre-install any tool that makes your work more easy, like an editor or an IDE that you’ve worked with before.

Yes. It is much better for you to use the laptop brand and operating system that works best for you, and retain any code and resources you stored locally after the course is over.

The software and tools we use in our classes are light on resources, so even a simple laptop will do. In general, any Mac or Windows laptop, even if it’s not the most recent model, should be good enough as long as it has a good wi-fi connection and some disk space. You will need to have the permissions to install software on this laptop.

Our courses are generally based on 8 sessions that meet once a week.

Payments

We request full payment before the first session. Payment can be made with a check, venmo or zelle. We do not take credit cards or cash.

We will refund the remaining sessions for students who withdraw from the course in sessions 1 through 4.

We do not offer a scholarship program at the moment, but we would love speaking with you about your specific tuition concerns and help you get into your desired class.

As part of our mission to help youth and adults expand their career opportunities, we offer our classes free of charge to underprivileged and underserved communities. Please contact our faculty to learn more.
